We recommend arriving 5 to 10 minutes before your reserved time slot. This will allow enough time to scan your ticket and store your personal belongings in one of the (free) lockers. Please report to the Ticket Office, located to the left of the Rietveld Schröder House. Our staff will welcome you there and give you a media player as well as a brief explanation of the tour.
Once you have picked up the media player from the Ticket Office, your tour can begin. The tour takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes and starts outside with a description of the exterior and surroundings.
After listening to the first audio stop, you will enter the house where you will be handed slipcovers to wear over your shoes. The tour continues in the kitchen to the right of the entrance. On the ground floor, you walk independently through the rooms. Then you go upstairs where a trained guide is also present. The guide gives a live demonstration of all the clever solutions that Rietveld incorporated into the house, such as the sliding walls and the special corner window.
Want to see how something else works or folds out? Ask one of our staff, but please refrain from touching anything yourself. Almost everything is still in its original state and therefore vulnerable.
During the tour, it is important to follow the instructions of our staff. Do not touch any objects or lean against anything due to the fragility of this centenary heritage site. You may take photos for personal use, provided you do not use a flash and staff members are not recognisable in the photo without their explicit permission. Our staff can invoke their portrait rights at all times.

After the tour, please return your media player to the Ticket Office and have a look around in the museum shop, where you can find books, souvenirs and other unique Rietveld Schröderhuis products and gifts. You can also watch a documentary about the house in the film room behind the shop. Ask one of our staff about this. Don't forget to take your belongings out of the locker again as you leave.
Tip: visit the coffee bar in the former garage of the house for a cup of coffee or other drink or snack. More information can be found here.
The multimedia tour is included in the ticket price and you can pick it up at the Ticket Office upon scanning your admission ticket. The media players are disinfected before and after each use. A headset is not required since the media players have a built-in speaker. However, you can connect your own headset if you prefer to use one. In order to do so, your headset must have a mini-jack.
Do you prefer to use your own device? No problem! The tour is also available online. Upon arrival, simply scan the QR code on the ticket desk and you are ready to go. Don't forget to bring your headphones. You do need internet connection for this.
The multimedia tour is available in Dutch, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese and Mandarin. The tour is also available in Dutch sign language.
